Academic English Course
The Regent College Academic English course not only provides the best preparation for
the IELTS exam but also includes elements of the General English course and introduces
students to the use of English in the context of education.
Universities and Colleges use IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
to determine the English level of non-native speakers before they begin a course.
There is no pass or fail but a scoring system from 0 - 9. Generally, students are
asked to achieve a score of 5.5 - 7.5 but this depends on the course they intend to
study. It is possible to sit the exam any week but we will need to book your place at
least 4 weeks in advance.
The IELTS part of the course concentrates on the demands of academic reading and
writing as well as the speaking and listening parts of the test. Our experienced
teachers will help you to plan a self-study programme to go with the course.
