Each year we invite team members from the National Citizens Service (NCS) to talk about our student about participating in the ‘Challenge’. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to undertake a three-part activity programme. The programme includes a residential stay at a University or activity centre to experience activities such as rock climbing, abseiling and adventure sports. Phase two of the programme helps student’s personal development by improving skills for things like job applications, public speaking, budgeting and project planning. The third phase provides an opportunity for students to get involved with planning and delivering a community based project on an issue that is important to them. The course ends with a graduation ceremony and each student receives a certificate signed by the Prime Minister. One of our students who completed the course stated, ‘the NCS programme changed my life.’
