The Regent Independent School caters for students aged from 11 to 16. This is a very important time in the education and development of a student.
Regent Independent School is a co-educational independent college that is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC), the Council for Independent Further Education (CIFE) and registered with the Department for Education and Skills (DfES.)
The College has a warm and friendly atmosphere and the strong pastoral care system aims to make each individual feel confident and secure. |
The College aims to:
Promote the love of learning
Develop the individual talents of the pupils
Encourage initiative and independence
Promote social responsibility and good behaviour
The programme of study at Key Stage 3 will support the general aims of the National Curriculum, but the pupils will also be offered a wide range of subjects taught to a greater depth. The College can offer significant benefits; we have small classes, excellent facilities and teachers of the highest calibre.
During Year 10 students will start their GCSE courses. They continue with the core subjects and select a series of options from an extensive list, taking between 8 and 10 subjects at GCSE. Study skills are an integral part of the curriculum throughout the Senior School and in addition all pupils follow a programme of Citizenship and Personal, Social and Health Education. The pupils learn how to learn effectively, and the regular homework and testing ensures that parents are kept informed of their child’s progress at every step of the educational ladder. These foundations lay the basis for every child to reach their full academic potential.
Independent Education at affordable prices
At Regent College we are committed to providing the best quality education and we are committed to having affordable fees. Every pupil should have the advantages that independent education can give, and we offer a real alternative to parents disillusioned by the state sector yet put off by the fees of the independent sector. We combine the best elements of independent education, small class sizes, quality teaching and excellent resources, yet without the level of fees that prohibit so many parents from taking the independent option.
Facilities and Resources
At Regent College we are justifiably proud of the facilities that we can offer to our pupils. The recently refurbished Science laboratories represent the latest in educational thinking and the ICT suites offer state of the art hardware and software. The College’s resource centre houses our collection of books, past papers and other resources that can be used by any pupil of the College. The Student common room and cyber café give pupils a place to relax and eat at break and lunchtimes and the interactive whiteboards allow our teachers to use every advantage to help the pupils.
Parents
The partnership between parents and school is very important. Half-termly progress reports, parents’ evenings and the ‘open door’ policy of all the senior members of staff keeps parents as fully informed and involved in the life of the College as possible.
