Regent Independent College, again hosted a highly successful and fulfilling activity day on Friday, 15th December.

At Regent Independent College, we pride ourselves on ensuring that not only are our students fulfilled academically, but also in an extra-curricular, holistic environment. After weeks of preparation and help from the College Heads of House and Head Boy (Rustam Zuggry) and Head Girl (Yolda Nezami) then the activity day was set to be a fun filled action packed day.

Beginning the day was Jacob from Elevate Education with a distinct focus on academic attainment, revision, and many other ‘instruments’ that are vital to the learning of students. All students were able to participate fully and really benefit from the kinaesthetic learning environment Jacob was able to create.

After a short break, we welcomed 2 members of the Metropolitan Police to talk to our students about real world issues that we face as Londoners in today’s society. A hard hitting talk, and PowerPoint presentation had all the students hanging on every word of the Constable’s. Issues discussed were the roles of drugs in crime today and the increase of knife crime in recent times especially amongst our ‘young persons’. The Constables were able to provide great, informative advice of how our students should stay vigilant, protect themselves and also our wider community in a time when the press seems to be sensationalising crimes involving younger members of our communities.

After lunch, Mrs Thomas (Student Progress Administrator) hosted the Regent Independent College quiz consisting of 42 general knowledge questions. Students listened attentively as our quizmaster was able to deliver brilliantly orated questions encompassing issues pertinent to our students. Wild laughter was heard at times based on both quizmaster errors and witty retorts from students attempting to throw others of the scent of success.

Our day ended with our Head Boy and Head Girl hosting the student Christmas party. Samosas and pizza were the menu of the day with music, laughter, dancing and other, general festivities taking place. Of course, the table tennis table was at the centre of all frolicking as the day grew to an end. As always a warm thank you to all those that helped with the planning and execution of the day as well as a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the team at Regent Independent College.
